On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Ministry of Law issued a Copyright Registration Letter with the number 984244 for the academic paper titled Exploring the Potential of IoT for Enhancing the Complimentary Nutritious Meals Program's Quality and Accountability: A Legal Perspective Prospective Analysis (IOT MBG). This academic paper was written by Ajeng Salma Layla Amira, a tenth grade student of SMA Negeri 8 Jakarta. The paper's theme is on enhancing the legal aspects of the proposed implementation of Internet of Things (IoT)-based technology in the Complimentary Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/ MBG) program.
This is her fourth registered and copyrighted paper. Previously, Ajeng, who passed the selection for the Indonesian Talent Development (Bina Talenta Indonesia) program in September 2025 and is also an alumnus of SMP Negeri 27 Jakarta, has registered copyrights number 897622 for academic paper on a virtual library based on Virtual Reality (VR) as a means of disseminating anti-corruption knowledge for Gen-Z (VARIANCE); copyright number 898285 for academic paper on Pancasila and national education based on mixed-reality (NATION); and copyright number 943535 for an academic article on optimizing subsidized gas distribution plans using Prophet Yusuf's AS idea (RETRACT).
The legal dimension underlined in the IOT MBG report concerns the quality, safety, and nutritional content of products manufactured by the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG). IoT sensors embedded across the supply chain system, beginning with raw material acquisition, storage, processing, and distribution subsystems, serve as legal tools for demonstrating operational compliance with specified norms and regulations.
If any infractions or deviations occur, this data can be used as compelling legal proof. Another legal issue that this study focuses on is the gathering of anthropometric data from MBG beneficiaries, such as height and weight, age, dietary history, and location. Furthermore, this data, which is subject to the Personal Data Protection Law, is retained and analysed to determine nutritional calculations, portion sizes, and food types provided. This data is extremely confidential personal information, so it requires a strong data protection framework and sufficient cybersecurity policies.
The incorporation of IoT into national-scale programs like this is not without obstacles. Crucial issues with personal data privacy and the veracity of electronic evidence require specific attention from the government, which serves as a regulator, program implementer, and technical supervisor.
Sensitive data collected requires strict protection under the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law), whereas operational data used as legal evidence must meet integrity and authenticity criteria specified by the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (ITE Law). The full support of the government and stakeholders is required for the deployment of IOT MBG to become one of the alternative options to bridge the gap between policy and implementation, hence assisting Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045.
